BOOK COVER DESIGN
FRONT COVER
The concept behind this cover was to visually communicate the central message of the book before a reader even opens the first page. Rather than portraying a bully as simply angry or intimidating, I wanted to explore the idea that bullying is often a mask—an outward persona that conceals deeper emotions such as insecurity, fear, loneliness, or pain. The teenage boy is dressed in a traditional letterman jacket, a recognizable symbol often associated with confidence, popularity, and social status. He stands beneath a single spotlight with his head lowered, holding a theatrical mask in his hand. The mask represents the false identity many bullies project to the world—a tough exterior used to hide who they really are. The title, Unmask the Bully, reinforces the idea that lasting change doesn’t come from punishment alone, but from parents, teachers, counselors, classmates, and mentors reaching the person behind the façade. By “unmasking” the bully, they help reveal the individual beneath the hardened exterior and guide them toward empathy, accountability, and healthier ways of interacting with others.
BACK COVER
The symbolism continues on the back cover. The same theatrical mask now lies abandoned on the ground, signifying that by the conclusion of the book, the bully has metaphorically removed the mask. It serves as a visual representation of transformation—the false persona has been discarded, allowing the individual’s authentic character to emerge. Together, the front and back covers create a complete visual narrative that mirrors the book’s message: understanding the causes of bullying, confronting harmful behavior, and ultimately helping young people become better versions of themselves.
